So like, I'd like the most minimal to use blogging plat atm, bc while I am a computer wizard, I do not really care for operating costs of a mailing server.

@KanekoTheKoolio underrated solution is Jekyll Now: jekyllnow.com

Uses the jekyll static site generator, but is no-code. you just fork the respo, fill in your blog deets/socials in the config.yml file on github, and upload your posts as markdown. it'll automatically build and publish

@taalumot @KanekoTheKoolio it really is the golden age. hugo is even better but has a bit more technical overhead and doesn't integrate directly with github. it's amazing that you can have your own corner of the internet for domain price/year

@pujz @taalumot I’ve heard of both but I didn’t realize they were blogging pieces

@KanekoTheKoolio @taalumot if u don't mind more CLI in your life then hugo deploying to netlify via gh repo is the most joyful and lightweight blogging experience i've ever used

@KanekoTheKoolio @taalumot glad to find another tui fan in the wild tho. running exclusively spotify-tui and a spotify daemon makes me feel like a haxxor but i think brings almost 0 performance benefit

@pujz @taalumot ok i literally went thru the spotify-tui fiasco a month ago and I gotta say, whatever underlying daemon they’re using(spotifyd?) is jank af. Kept lagging when I was compiling, or even when I moved windows around.
Highly rec spotify-player instead.

Also spotify-player has more recent updates. The only downside is I think the search function is limited to stuff you have liked/playlisted (for now??)

@KanekoTheKoolio @taalumot ok awesome will check out! agreed that spotifyd is trash, the only way i could get it to work was to use another device on the network to play, and use the tui just for queueing and control

@KanekoTheKoolio (taal lmk if you want to be untagged given that this is a ridiculous tangent lmao)

@0bviouSquirre1 @KanekoTheKoolio free too!!! just name your repo [username].github.io and it’ll auto host on github pages. you can then set a custom domain in repo settings

@junobrum @KanekoTheKoolio @0bviouSquirre1 you definitely should! i’m not in tech and it wasn’t too difficult. there’s step by step instructions on the linked website and just lmk if you have any questions

@junobrum @pujz @KanekoTheKoolio
can confirm that it's very simple to set up. if you run into trouble, let me know and i can try to help
