@sonya I just take the approach of making sure the microblog is useful to me even if I’m the only user.

thinking of it more as "seeding a new site for backup purposes"
so that IF something happens at twitter, then a bunch of people are already at (e.g.) schelling.pt so it's easy to coordinate (instead of trying to scramble to contact people AFTER getting cut off for some reason)
