-it can get kind of annoying, actually
probably related to the general lack of quality, ive unfollowed ~half the accounts already

its just too much, and several of them have context that i dont get, which is too much effort to try and understand for every tweet

Show thread

several of them were at the general quality level of a college art student

im not even talking about the modern art stuff, some of the sketches and portraits were just bad

we live in a world where internet randos are often better artists than the professionals

Show thread

some thoughts on this choice, two days in:

-its shocking just how bad a lot of high art is

like, theres a lot of really good art just floating around on the internet, and i have taken the typical quality of this stuff completely for granted

just followed 200 accounts and now my twitter feed is replaced with art

gosh there sure is a lot of art

also, any Discourse that happens is going to be stripped of any private or difficult to understand context

this also means that if you want to make money from Discourse, its best to focus on things that barely affect many people instead of whatever you actually, deeply care about

Show thread

it is only possible to talk about things with people who share the relevant context

the most important things for most people are very private, or otherwise require very specific context

therefore, it is extremely unlikely for Discourse to be about anything that matters to you

this was a lot closer than i was expecting, tbh

@imhinesmi Carbon-14 is produced continuously in the atmosphere from cosmic rays hitting nitrogen, so the amount of C-14 tells you how long since that carbon was captured from the atmosphere (e.g. by a plant, or an animal eating a plant)

Show thread

idle thought: why does carbon dating work?

like, i know that its based off of radioactive decay of carbon-14, but shouldnt all the carbon in the environment decay at the same rate? its the same stuff, right?

anyways, yall should rec your favorite aesthetic accounts

Show thread

i can no longer see the Discourse, as it has been replaced with pretty pictures

this is, good
